SnowbikeŽ Rentals and SnowbikeŽ Instruction in Summit County Colorado

Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Dillon, Frisco, Silverthorne

(Also known as Ski Bob or Ski Bike)

SnowbikeŽ Rentals (AKA Ski Bob or Ski Bike)

A SnowbikeŽ is a mix between skiing and bicycling, with handlebars, a banana seat, and two small skis attached to the snowbiker's feet.

Snowbiking is becoming more popular with people looking for a little less impact in the knees, and a gentler ride. The rider sits on the SnowbikeŽ, eliminating the jarring action associated with traditional skiing.

It is easier to learn to SnowbikeŽ than it is to learn to ski or snowboard. With a little instruction, that is included in the SnowbikeŽ rental price, you will be enjoying your day snowbiking.

Experienced skiers and snowboarders learn to ride a SnowbikeŽ on the first run down, approximately 40 minutes. Even those who have never skied before can become proficient on a SnowbikeŽ in as little as an hour. This can allow a non-skier in the group to keep up with the rest as opposed to spending the day at the lodge or at the condo.

We use the conveyor lift, chairlifts, and gondolas to go up. Total mountain access is allowed at Keystone, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin in Summit County. Learn a new life-sport!

SnowbikeŽ Rentals FAQs

Ski Bob

How long has the sport been around?

The first SnowbikeŽ was introduced in 1949 in Austria. In the 60's and 70's, it was known as a ski bob or a ski bike. The term ski bob is still used in Europe, but here the term ski bob has been replaced with SnowbikeŽ. Snowbiking has been popular in Europe and it is gaining popularity in Colorado.

Which Colorado ski resorts allow snowbikes?

In Summit County, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin currently allow snowbikes. In Grand County, Winter Park also allows Snowbikes.

Can I rent a SnowbikeŽ and learn on my own?

No. Since this is a new and upcoming sport, the ski resorts have safety concerns. We require that anyone using a SnowbikeŽ to have received proper instruction on its use and how to load and unload from a chairlift.

What is the SnowbikeŽ rental and learning Process?

If you have received your SnowbikeŽ certification card, you can rent a SnowbikeŽ and take it to Copper Mountain, Keystone, or Arapahoe Basin. If you have not ridden before, you need to be certified by learning how to SnowbikeŽ by an instructor, probably a 40 to 60 minute lesson. This can be done at Copper Mountain, Keystone, or Arapahoe Basin based upon the instructor's availability.

Who is a SnowbikeŽ Rental for?

People who have never skied before can learn this quickly and keep up with the rest of the group. People with knee problems can SnowbikeŽ putting a lot less pressure on the knee joints than skiing or snowboarding.

Is Snowbiking hard to learn?

It is easier to learn how to SnowbikeŽ than it is to learn how to ski or snowboard. Most people pick it up inside of an hour and begin enjoying their SnowbikeŽ experience immediately.

How old do you have to be to rent a SnowbikeŽ?

Children must be 9 years or older. Smaller bikes are available for young riders.

How much do they weigh?

A full-size SnowbikeŽ weighs less than 16 pounds.

How do you get them on the lift?

A SnowbikeŽ can be taken up on a chairlift, in a gondola, or on a T-bar. This is explained during the instruction you will receive when you first rent a SnowbikeŽ.

Do I need any special equipment?

Helmets are always a good idea. You will need either ski boots or snowboard boots to fit into the bindings of the short skis you will wear on your feet.
