Combine Flights, Hotels, Rental Cars
You will not neccessarily need a rental car to get around Summit County as long as you are near the free county-wide bus line. Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Keystone have their own free shuttles to get you around the resorts.
However, a rental car does provide some freedom and it will allow you to easily escape the resorts to put some local flavor in your vacation.
If you want a rental car, pick one up at the airport. It is hard to get a rental car in Summit County, plus, you would need to hire a shuttle back and forth from Denver International Airport. Combine a rental car with your airline ticket using Expedia, or Hotwire.
When trying to decide between a rental car and a shuttle, be sure to weigh into the equation how comfortable you are driving in the snow.

Summit Stage - Free Local Bus Service
Once you arrive from the Denver Airport, the Summit Stage offers free bus service to shuttle passengers between the towns in Summit County, Breckenridge, Keystone, Dillon, Frisco, Silverthorne, and Copper Mountain. This service is in Summit County only, you will have to arrange other transportation to Vail.
A water taxi service operates between the Dillon Marina and the Frisco Marina during the summer. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Summit County Colorado from the lake. You will be able to capture some of the best panoramic photos of the Rocky Mountains.
The water taxi operates 7 days per week, but it does not operate on a fixed schedule. You will have to call to schedule a pick up time and location.
